This week I had a chance to visit the current JPG CHEER TEAM

I was so excited to meet them and introduce myself and hear from them

I have had a new coach a few times in my career, so I genuinely appreciated the opportunity to meet them in person as well as some other staff at the school!

Soooo Now, before we (yes, WE) dive into the deep end of this adventure, I realized something crucial - ummmm I needed to get moving, like pronto! And maybe, just maybe, some of you can relate?! It's time to dust off these joints and get our bodies revved up for what's to come... Check out my thoughts in this video below:

I started the meeting quickly summarizing my cheer/dance resume (we had limited time):

  • I have cheered/dance or done gymnastics since I was 9 years old through adulthood as a NFL professional cheerleader and as a business owner/coach.

  • Although I accomplished leadership in every team I was on, I legit didn’t start that way and typically began as the weakest on my team…but I listened to my coaches and was willing to give my best. Things always got better and I’m grateful for the experience and tenacity this built!

  • When auditioning or being on teams, My positive attitude carried me much further than my determination did and I have a softened heart for athletes who have this quality. It can be really easy to compare yourself to others or feel less than because of your differences. Mentally you have to show off what YOU have and stay focused. When it is your time, God will make it clear and YOU want to be ready for YOUR TIME.

Next, we dug into some questions from them and they were sooo good...

Check out some highlights & the answers below:

  • We want to Tumble - Will we tumble? We will work on tumbling and only throw safe skills outside of practice.

  • Will we stunt? Yes. It’s my fav!

  • Will we attend Cheer Camp this year? No. We have missed the enrollment period NCA/UCA but I am working on other arrangements.

  • Will there be captains this year? Yes. There will be captains and co-captains and they may not be seniors.

  • Will there be cuts at tryouts? Yes. The team will consist of athletes who meet the requirements for 2024 Football.

  • What time is practice? Tentatively 330-530PM at JPG

I know we both were so so excited to have a chat and both are a little nervous too

I sincerely understand how much this sport means to so many people and look forward to helping the team look forward to new challenges, feel prepared for all the things and HAVE FUN

Finally, because I am a planner I let them know about our upcoming Interest Meeting & Assessment!!
